Specialized Hospital Flatcars for Damaged Railcars

RedStreak provides specialized 89-foot hospital flatcars built specifically to move damaged railcars and their trucks to shop or scrap.

  • These are not standard flatcars used for freight.
  • They are purpose-built for railcar recovery work.

Our equipment helps crews move damaged equipment safely, operate efficiently and avoid work-arounds that drive up costs.

AAR-Recognized Loading Method

RedStreak hospital cars use a loading setup shown in the Association of American Railroads Open Top Loading Rules. (Section 3, Fig. 55-A)

This is a known and accepted method across the railroad industry.

Crews can:

  • Load the damaged railcar
  • Load the trucks
  • Secure the load
  • Move the car to shop or scrap
  • No special approval.
  • No guessing.
  • No work-arounds.
  • If it’s in the AAR book, crews know it’s a safe way to move the car.
